Track Title: MIA
Versions Overview
V1: Leaner lows, added air
V2: Warmth from the Massive Passive Transformer 2
-Shortened by 2 seconds at the end because the silence was too long
- faded in
1. Equalization and Dynamic Processing
Equalization
-
Use of Pulsar Massive Passive for V2
-
Low Shelf Cut at 120 Hz / Gain: -3.4 dB / Q: 17.6 (V1)
The proposed alternative is an EQ using the Pulsar Massive Transformer 2 (mainly a smoother sound without the slight harshness involved in the original saturation) for a different sonic signature (V2)
-Impact
This attenuation slightly reduces the low frequencies to correct an excess of energy in this range and avoid a "muddy" bass effect.
-High-Frequency Boost
A high shelf is applied in the treble, beyond 10 kHz, to add more clarity and air to the mix.
This enhances brightness and presence, improving the perception of details, especially on vocals.
-Overall Balance
The frequency response shows a moderate reduction in the lows and a slight boost in the highs, which can give the mix a clearer and more open feel.
The midrange remains relatively neutral, indicating that the goal is to preserve the balance of the mix while enhancing its transparency.
2. Loudness and Peak Level Measurements
Loudness (LUFS)
-
Integrated LUFS: -8.9 LUFS
-
Short-Term LUFS:-9.3 LUFS
-
Momentary Max LUFS:-5.0 LUFS
Dynamics
-
Realtime Dynamics: 9.2 LU
True Peak
-
True Peak Max : 0.0 dB (V1)
Versions Overview (Recap)
V1: Leaner lows, added air
V2: Warmth from the Massive Passive Transformer 2
The applied equalization is targeted to refine the mix, purify the low frequencies and clarify the high frequencies. The proposed alternative is an equalizer using the Pulsar Massive Transformer 2 for a different sonic signature.

* Note: Ideally, it is advisable to upgrade the unmastered version to compare it to the mastered version. but here, my goal is to understand the contribution of mastering.
